Our 2027 outings will begin on Monday 26th April and are planned for the 2nd and 4th Mondays.
Details of precise locations for visits will be emailed to members a month before the day which will all start at 10.30am. Note that location may change due to weather conditions.
2026 was a challenging year for wild flowers due to the extremely hot weather but our group managed to increase the number of species identified – perhaps we are getting better at identification or we are listening to the more experienced members!
Sites visited included Lathkill Dale, Hartington station, Swettenham, Jacksons Brickworks, Solomon’s Temple, Lindow Common and a new venue at Brown End Quarry, Waterhouses. We missed out Ainsdale dunes as our visit clashed with the international golf week and also the plants had all but dried up. It’s on the 2027 list of visits.
The new plants seen included Great Mullein, White Valarian, Hedge Woundwort, Perforate St John’s Wort – you need a lense to see the holes!, Bog bean, Bog Asphodel, Sundew and Shepherd’s purse.
Do make contact if you can suggest any new site or able to lead a visit
Best wishes
Alec
